Help The Sanctuary To Help The Animals

Furever Farm has existed now for approximately 7 years, founded by two people with a strong vision to help save as many farm animals as possible. Along the way hundreds of animals have been taken in, calling Furever Farm home or going on to loving adoption families. The morals and ethics behind this venture were born of the injustice and inequality afforded these animals. So began a pledge and promise to do whatever was required to produce positive outcomes.

The journey has been more than just saving animals. It has also been educating, or saving, humans who once viewed farm animals as commodities and insignificant. The simply message of these sentient beings actually being no different to the family pet dog or cat was paramount in its execution. Throughout the time Furever Farm has existed there have been many individuals, old and young, who have declared themselves awakened, turning to a vegan lifestyle because of their experience at the farm.

The animals taken in by Furever Farm have been many and varied. From simple surrender cases to blatant cruelty, the stories and background of each animal is as unique and individual as they. Animals from farms that would otherwise have been "disposed" of, orphans, dumped or those carrying mental and physical scars.

Furever Farm has become renowned for its acceptance and welcome of animals with disabilities. We never turn our back on those otherwise considered worthy of nothing but euthanasia. Blind animals, animals with missing limbs or limbs requiring removal. Animals with bones badly broken, including a lamb sporting a broken back and non-use of his hind legs. It must be noted that Furever Farm treated and rehabilitated that lamb, who now walks, runs, jumps and plays in the paddock with his woolly family. Here, it is considered that no trauma is beyond trying, immovable pain and suffering aside. There have been many occasions where our own field vet has marvelled at the outcome of scenarios that looked near impossible to begin with.

The passion applied to the workings of Furever Farm is shared by all who witness. From the owners themselves to the volunteers throughout the various fields. You see, the passion of the owners began many years before the inception of the sanctuary. The blood, sweat and tears in creating a haven for animals was felt way before the gate first opened. The decision, the importance, the adrenalin to have this happen was first born the extremely strong appreciation of what is right, morally and ethically right. The sufferance of the animals was obvious, it was there for all to see.....if they wanted to see it. Farmed animals deserved rights. They deserve to live and be free from persecution as well as the fear of death. They should not suffer while we walk free.

Since the beginning the sanctuary has not been about making money. That is why it was always to be set up as an NFP, a registered charity. This wasn't about riches, it wasn't even about ownership, with the end goal of Darren & Hayley being to give this over to someone willing for the same ethical reasons. Having said that, even NFP's need to survive, they need to function in the quest of caring for its residents. Not For Profit doesn't mean so. It must still operate like a business in order to prevail. Funds are needs, more incoming than outgoing. Without that, it cannot survive.

And here we find ourselves at the crossroads. During the 7 years we have had ups and downs, which is normal, and unavoidable. But, for the very first time, we find ourselves in grave danger. Furever Farm is at serious risk of having to close its doors. This saddens us, it petrifies us. The mere suggestion of Furever Farm not existing is heartbreaking. The world, right now, needs more sanctuaries, not less. But, of more worry, more importance to us is the current 130-150 animals that reside at the farm. What of them? What happens to them if the gates close? Where do they go? And further still, what of the future animals who will need our help? What of them? There is one very definite answer, but we refuse to harbour it. We pledged. We promised.

We are emotionally invested in these and future animals. Yes, we love them even before they arrive. They need saving, they need fixing, they need help. Everyone here does what they do for one reason; the animals. For that's what vegan is; for the animals. That's what care is; for the animals. That's what compassion is; for the animals. That is what is right.

For the first time ever Furever Farm is utilising an outside forum to ask for help. What we have been able to keep in-house in the past is simply too big, too serious this time. Covid has seen, understandably, donations go backwards. Fundraising has been a near impossibility. And now, the cost of living continues to skyrocket, passed on by all businesses. Furever Farm currently sits at a couple of feed bills and a vet bill away from closure......and we know we are expecting a vet bill.

We place our pride aside and we ask you from the bottom of our hearts, on behalf of the beautiful animals; please, please help if you can. We have provided a link to our call for help, but if you would rather another avenue, please just contact us. As usual, each kind contribution over $2 is tax deductible. We are doing this as one last attempt to stay open, to claw our way back and continue rescuing and saving animals from all walks of life. If you can......

We need you and they need all of us.
